SEQUENCE

ONE MILK TWO SUGARS, Iawna's first vitrine solo show and performative intervention on the sidewalk curated by Daniela Custrin opens on Thursday, July 6th, starting from 7 PM. This installation is the first in a series of five artistic interventions created by emerging local artists, part of the project SEQUENCE & Mântuleasa in the vitrine of Suprainfinit Gallery. Every exhibition will be accompanied by a performative, communitary event on the sidewalk during the opening, aiming to make art accessible to passers-by and fostering a sense of shared experience within Mantuleasa neighborhood.

With the various cosmetic standardizations and the objectifying styling used in media for food representation, the food becomes decorative, and in fact, inedible. Food posts are designed to be consumed online, like a charming insatiable promise. ONE MILK TWO SUGARS, both inside the vitrine and on the sidewalk in front of it, is the first site-specific installation of Iawna, whose practice creates an alternative to contemporary food advertising and imagery, not from a critical exteriority, but rather from a complex inside perspective, claiming that she has to live for a while inside of the banner-world just to question the notions of beauty™ in relation to food. The 5-metre-long vitrine on Mântuleasa Street accommodates a food campaign for one month, introducing a new approach for products to hit markets.
