Alina Fenes Crasovschi, Island of lepers, 2021, watercolor on graph paper and collage on wooden panel, 70x100cm

Born in 1978 in Tulcea, Romania, Alina currently lives and works in Petru Vodă village, Romania. In 2004, she graduated from the Art University of Bucharest (UNArte), Department of Painting , under the guidance of Professor and artist Florin Mitroi. Alina Fenes Crasovschi’s paintings bring together subjects related to surreal, geometrized landscapes, in which the logic of existence is suspended spatially and timelessly to make room for a posthumanist vision of the scenery and the subjects represented. The characters are dehumanized, and the lines imposed by the medium she works with, namely the graph paper, do not truncate the image, but rather offer a clear space for the development of the subjects that find themselves in imaginary, possible conjunctures. After a 10-year break from her career as an artist, her practice could be rediscovered in a 2021 solo show at Suprainfinit Gallery, with a series of new works that announced the artist’s revival.

Selected solo and group exhibitions: group show at Baraka Art Space, Spetses (GR); Escape into Real (2021), Suprainfinit Gallery, Bucharest (RO); Of refrains and liminal spaces (2020), Suprainfinit Gallery, Bucharest (RO); Out of the blue (2020), The Museum of Recent Art, Bucharest (RO).
